Amazon Omakase Plugin for Joomla! 1.5 - Features

Features

The code this plugin inserts mirrors that generated on the Amazon Associate site. We've streamlined the code slightly by:

  • Removing extra whitespace
  • Optionally wrapping the code in a <div> container, and
  • Added optional css class parameters (to allow you to apply css styling to the ad like float, text-align, margin or border).

In addition, this first release of the Amazon Omakase Plugin provides the following features:

  • XHTML Transitional 1.0 compliant
  • Supports customization for all Amazon Omakase BASIC and ADVANCED configuration options
  • All parameters apply globally across the site
  • All parameters can be overridden with plugin parameters

Regardless of the defaults you set, you can change any or all of them when you enter the plugin code within your content. Using {pgomakase} will insert the Omakase Ad code using the defaults you set on the Plugin Editor screen.

Marisa,

We added support for this in version 1.5.3, which you can download from our downloads section. To use this in a module position, create a Custom HTML module and add your pg omakase tag.

How do I set this up in a module and not a content item?

I using the plug in but I would like the site to switch between (initially just) the .com and the .co.uk Amazon Associates ads based on the visitors country.

At the moment if I use both extensions I get both sets (UK and US) of ads which is not good.

I would be happy to have both modules onfigutred on the page as long as the inappropriate one disappeared when not needed.

Any possibility as my sites get a very international visitor profile.

Joe,

We have a new beta version, which includes Germany, and all the Amazon country sites. Please check the Download section of the site to get a copy.

Hi,

I just installed the german version of the Amazon Omakase Plugin and cannot seem to get it to work. I have added my amazon partner-id, selected the article-groups I want to display as well as set up the banner size (468x60), and added the { pgomakase}at the desired location with in my content. Any Idea of what my mistake is?

Thanks for your kind words.

The pgOmakase plugin is a content plugin, so it does not run within modules. I'll look into developing this as a module as well.

Regarding amazon.de. I've posted a copy of code (in the download section of the site) modified for Germany.

First of all, it's an amazing plugin for Joomla, thank you very much!

I would like to know, if there's a way to get it working as a Joomla Module for better displaying? I tried to put the { pgomakase} in a custom module but it didn't work...

Secondly, I'm also interested to the Amazon.de variant of the plugin, as I come from Germany. Are there any news about that?

Thanks in advance,
Johannes

Alan,

Thanks for the kind words. YES, you can specify the link opens in a new window. Use the target parameter. Set the default in the Plugin parameters in the Plugin Manager. Or, on a case by case basis using the target="new" parameter when adding the tag. Target takes one of two options, "new" to open in a new window or "same" to open in the same browser window.
