The Smart Way to Sell Amazon Books!
The Amazon Omakase Plugin for Joomla! 1.5 provides a simple way to advertise Amazon products on your Joomla Site, based on your content. By popular request, this version includes "Advanced" Omakase options in this version, so you can specify keywords to include or exclude, as well as priority product categories.
If you're not familiar with Omakase, it's Amazon's answer to Google AdSense. According to Amazon:
Omakase links uniquely combine information on each site visitor's taste, the site's content, and historical trends to dynamically generate relevant ads that Amazon serves to your site. With simple, yet powerful, customization options, Omakase lets you automatically provide personalized product ads to your site visitors that complement your site design. Omakase - Leave it up to us!
We've had great success with Omakase on my sites and suggest you at least take it for a test drive. Honestly, it takes a day or so before Amazon Omakase suggestions start targeting at their peak, but it's worth the wait. To the right is an example of the plugin in action.
This plugin makes inserting Omakase ads into Joomla content simple. After installing and enabling this plugin, just enter your Amazon Associate's ID, default size, colors and basic settings then toss in a {pgomakase} in your content and voila! If you decide to change your template or create a new Amazon tracking ID, make the change once in your Plugin Editor, clear your cache and they'll be applied across your site. Download now!

We added support for this in version 1.5.3, which you can download from our downloads section. To use this in a module position, create a Custom HTML module and add your pg omakase tag.

At the moment if I use both extensions I get both sets (UK and US) of ads which is not good.
I would be happy to have both modules onfigutred on the page as long as the inappropriate one disappeared when not needed.
Any possibility as my sites get a very international visitor profile.
We have a new beta version, which includes Germany, and all the Amazon country sites. Please check the Download section of the site to get a copy.
I just installed the german version of the Amazon Omakase Plugin and cannot seem to get it to work. I have added my amazon partner-id, selected the article-groups I want to display as well as set up the banner size (468x60), and added the { pgomakase}at the desired location with in my content. Any Idea of what my mistake is?
The pgOmakase plugin is a content plugin, so it does not run within modules. I'll look into developing this as a module as well.
Regarding amazon.de. I've posted a copy of code (in the download section of the site) modified for Germany.
I would like to know, if there's a way to get it working as a Joomla Module for better displaying? I tried to put the { pgomakase} in a custom module but it didn't work...
Secondly, I'm also interested to the Amazon.de variant of the plugin, as I come from Germany. Are there any news about that?
Thanks in advance,
Johannes
Thanks for the kind words. YES, you can specify the link opens in a new window. Use the target parameter. Set the default in the Plugin parameters in the Plugin Manager. Or, on a case by case basis using the target="new" parameter when adding the tag. Target takes one of two options, "new" to open in a new window or "same" to open in the same browser window.
